Herbert Hall was established in 2007 by Nicholas Hall. It is named after his Great Grandfather - an artisan farmer who settled in Kent at the end of the 19th Century. The organic vineyard produces superb fruit from which winemakers Nick Hall, Peter Morgan and Kirsty Smith create wines of individuality, balance and harmony. While Herbert Hall wines have a distinct House style; each vintage expresses the soil and seasonal conditions of the vineyard.Nick, Kirsty and Peter share a belief in winemaking as a creative act requiring love, skill and attention to detail. They prize individuality and the humanity of craftsmanship over the conformity of mass production.
There are currently two styles of wine available to buy online – Herbert Hall Brut and Herbert Hall Brut Rosé.
The winery is also developing a barrel-fermented Blanc de Blanc (limited edition of 1000) made by Herbert Hall ‘Rising Star Award 2014’ Winner, Kirsty Smith. The 2013 vintage Brut will also be released in 37.5cl bottles (limited edition of 1800).
Herbert Hall Brut is an elegant, dry sparkling wine of great freshness and finesse. The 2013 has a delightfully floral nose, balanced acidity, exceptional purity of fruit and a soft, silky mousse.
With its additional pinot noir, Herbert Hall Brut Rosé pushes the red fruit to the fore while retaining the hallmark freshness and elegance of the Brut. The wine is dry, pale salmon pink floral with summer fruits on the palate, balanced acidity, fine mousse and a delicate touch of sweetness on the finish.
